Taliban Rules for Women
- Women can’t work outside the house
- Women can’t partake in activities outside their home without their father, husband, or brother.
- Women may not be treated by male doctors.
- Women may not attend school after the age of 10.
- Women must always wear burkas that cover their face and body.
- Punishment for women showing their ankles is a public whipping and regular beatings if women do not comply with dress code.
- Women will be publicly stoned if accused of committing adultery.
- Women may not use cosmetics, if they do their fingers will be cut off.
- Women are banned from laughing loudly, talking, or shaking hands with someone without a brother, father, or husband present.
- Women’s foot steps should not be heard.
- Women’s voice should not be heard by a stranger.
- Women can not be on the radio, TV, or partake in social gatherings.
- Women can not play sports or enter sports facilities or clubs.
- Women can’t wear bright (sexualy attractive) clothing.
- Women are not allowed on the balconies of their home.
- Women may not share a bus with men, buses are now segregated between men and women.
- Women can not be measured or buy clothing from men.
